Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition

General

Tuition at The Epiphany School of Global Studies is in the low to moderate range when compared with peer schools. While other prestigious college preparatory schools of our caliber in our region charge from $14,000-$20,000, we value the importance of keeping tuition affordable so that a diverse intersection of students will be able to attend.

For the 2013- 2014 academic year, tuition has been set at the following amounts:

  • Grades K-5: $6,400
  • Grades 6-9: $6,700
  • Grades 10-12: $7,400

Families may pay tuition fees through annual, bi-annual, or monthly payments. In order to secure enrollment, families must pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of $400 per student.

Fees

Unlike most schools, The Epiphany School of Global Studies does not host an endless array of special charges such as admittance to sporting events, field trips, school materials (aside from books), co-curricular fees, family contribution fees, performance costs, science fair costs, club costs, yearbook, etc. Instead, the school thinks it is easiest for families to budget for education if they know in advance all additional costs that can be expected. The fees are intended to cover most special programming needs. While the school does its best to anticipate all educational opportunities in advance of the school year, if a specific unexpected opportunity arises (a theater performance in Raleigh, for instance, of which the school only recently became aware and which would benefit our students), there may be a few incidental expenses. For those on a monthly payment plan, the fees are spread throughout the year and combined with tuition into one single cost.

For the academic year 2013-2014, Fees have been set at the following levels:

  • Grades K-6: $500
  • Grade 7: $400
  • Grade 8: $550
  • Grade 9: $900 (includes partial payment credit for freshman trip to Guatemala)
  • Grades 10-12: $550

Books

Currently students are required to purchase their own text and literature books in grades 5-12.

Financial Aid

General

By its founding principles, The Epiphany School of Global Studies is a place where low to moderate tuition is required despite high academic standards and numerous extra-curricular activities. At the present time, all students are subsidized $1,000 per year with grants from the Nicholas Sparks Foundation. In other words, tuition does NOT cover the annual cost of educating a student at the school. It is for this reason that the school hosts an annual fundraising gala, and has begun a capital campaign, with some funds earmarked for scholarships and financial aid.

We further believe that to fully appreciate and participate in a child's educational experience, all families must participate in some way in the expenses associated with that education. Other than those directed by restricted gift scholarships, there are no "full scholarships." Except in rare instances, families are expected to pay at least 50% of the tuition and full fees.

To Apply for Financial Aid

The Epiphany School of Global Studies collaborates with the "FACTS" Tuition Management Website when making financial aid decisions. No employees of the school are involved in his process.

FACTS Tuition Management Website

"FACTS" is a web-based, independent Financial Aid Service for independent schools that – much in the way universities or colleges operate – requires specific financial information such bank statements, tax filings, home ownership information, savings accounts, and other necessary financial information as part of a process that will help to inform the decision on how much a family can fairly afford.

Again, no employees at The Epiphany School of Global Studies are involved in the process. Aside from specific restricted-gift scholarships, all financial aid requests go through FACTS.

Once the "affordability" is established, the information is forwarded to the family. The school also receives the information and makes an evaluation based upon three factors: the amount requested, the financial aid available, and the number of students applying. An offer is then submitted to the family.

If Financial Aid is offered and accepted

The school works in cooperation with FACTS to receive payments, which then allows parents to register for a payment plan and/or make a full payment online. This password-protected and encrypted web-program gives parents a full report of tuition payments and allows them to check the up-to-date status of their account.

If you have any questions about the FACTS Tuition Management Program, feel free to contact the Finance Department at the school at (252) 638-0122, ext. 614.
